"The one other fact I wanted to note: We pretty much played Side One of the Beatles' White Album straight through, minus Wild Honey Pie, Ob-La-Di and Bungalow Bill. And then a ten-minute version of the Grateful Dead's Sugaree. So I'm guessing you guys are all pretty big music fans to put up with us doing that!" I wanted to say a quick thank you to all the awesome musicians we met at Colonial FM's Twin Tiers Battle of the Bands in Allegany, NY this past Sunday. We've played in many similar events, and to be honest we've felt that the band who plays best doesn't always win. There are usually several great options. So the fact that we were the lucky ones on this occasion is a bit humbling. If anything, meeting so many cool new people was the best part!
Stoneclad was probably my favorite band of the night. All us MMOC guys are Deadheads as well. And a major thank you to Jason from Diggin Roots Band and Trevor from the Orange Friction for offering up their amps for me to use. We're looking forward to playing with the Hovelists and Scarecrow Show at Bradner Stadium's Fourth of July fireworks show in Olean. The one other fact I wanted to note: We pretty much played Side One of the Beatles' White Album straight through, minus Wild Honey Pie, Ob-La-Di and Bungalow Bill. And then a ten-minute version of the Grateful Dead's Sugaree. So I'm guessing you guys are all pretty big music fans to put up with us doing that! We thought we may be taking it a bit too far! Glad to see so many people, including the judges, appreciate the old Classic Rock like we do. Thanks again to everyone involved. Today would have been my Grandpa Gordon's 108th birthday...yeah that's nuts. Along with my parents, he helped me get into music, golf, basketball, Penn State football etc. Had to make note of that too. It's prob pretentious of me to think Levon Helm or John Lennon can see what we're up to, but I think our grandparents can. -Tyler and the guys from MMOC
