"When dealing with criticisms, whether it's from a random jerk in the crowd or from a reviewer who took the time to listen to our music, I try to summon Yoda-like patience." I'm a bit opinionated about music. Chances are if you're close with me at all I've ruined your night at least once with a musical rant. I apologize - Take it as a compliment if anything. I'm stuck in the 1960's as much as anyone. When dealing with criticisms, whether it's from a random jerk in the crowd or from a reviewer who took the time to listen to our music, I try to summon Yoda-like patience. Finally as I'm about to hit 30, I think I'm getting better at it. Some of our more favorable professional reviews are available on our Links/Press page. We'll post some covering the new album in the coming weeks as well. But as for some of the more scathing reviews we've received in the past... I figured why not share them with everyone? A couple of them are from national publications, and it's kind of funny to read something by someone who's criticizing you. Not everyone is going to like everything, and that's okay. At least they were kind enough to say a few nice things as well. I didn't take the reviews to heart or lose sleep over them, but I did take them seriously the few times I've checked them out. I've found the key is to keep plugging away. We've gotten better, but several years later it's interesting to read a few of them: This one from Get Ready to Rock isn't TOO bad (way to spell the name right): http://www.getreadytorock.com/reviews2011/marshmallow_overcoat.htm At least these were about an album, not live shows: http://wlurradio.blogspot.com/2010/11/marshmellow-overcoat.html And my personal favorite: "Maybe if there was someone with a stronger voice leading the band then Marshmellow Overcoat would be onto a bit of a winner" http://uberrock.co.uk/cd-reviews/22-february-cd/2013-marshmellow-overcoat-on-safari-self-released.html MMOC's official mascot, Abbey the Maine Coon. It's nice that she lets me live in her house. Jazzy and Spuds MacKenzie are also our mascots.
